fests, and other inter-college competitive events.
About the Event:
Under the guidance of
Dr. Amit Kumar Suman, the Live Concert by Amarnath was organised on 28th
August, 2020 at 5PM especially for the class of 2021, as for them, it will be
their last year, which started with a pandemic, making it impossible to enjoy
the vibrant culture that one may experience at the University of Delhi. Keeping
the syllabus in mind, the event also covered Rekhta, what the students have been studying in their third year Mughal History. Rekhta literally translates to ‘mixed,’ which implies to a mixture
of various language in order to make it more accessible to a wide audience,
similarly, the concert also focused on the Bollywood Songs which were not just
written in one particular language, rather a mixture.
The event, though
organised especially for the class of 2021, was also attended by the students
from second year and the faculty of History Department. The event began with an
introduction of Amarnath by Dhananjay Kushwaha, a student from the class of
2021, who then declared the event open with a shayari by Nida Fazali.
man bai-rāgī tan anūrāgī qadam qadam dushvārī hai
jīvan jiinā sahl na jaano bahut baḌī fankārī hai
The entire event was
coordinated by Ishita Roy, third-year student, who is the Media and Academic
Coordinator of the History Department of Kirori Mal College. Charchit Gangwar,
third-year student, also played an essential role in preparing the Vote of
Thanks, which was presented to Amarnath at the end of the event.
The Live Concert was
like an oasis of happiness and nostalgia in the desert of the on-going
pandemic. The students enjoyed songs sung by Amarnath’s magical voice, though
constrained by distances and technology, everyone still managed to sing along,
swayed and some even danced a little!
The songs like Tera Yaar Hoo Mai, Lag Ja Gale, etc took all the students in the flashback of those
good old times spent in college before the pandemic. Many genres were also
touched upon and even the teachers took an active part in singing along! The
entire event left everyone in awe and filled everyone’s heart with happiness
and memories.
Due to the physical
constraints, a formal Vote of Thanks in a PDF format was presented and mailed
to Amarnath as a part of felicitation, and the event turned out to be a great
success!
